Karine's Portfolio

I am Phua Wei Ling Karine, currently studying in Temasek Polytechnic and pursuing a diploma course named Interior Architecture & Design. 

 

Since young, I have seen many different interior buildings and I am always curious on how interior designers get their inspiration to have the creativity to design such magnificent interior buildings. Hence I always have an interest in design, as such I would like to improve my creativity and pursue a path in interior design. Other than designing, something that I am passionate about is business. This is thanks to my secondary school times i took Principle of Accounts (POA) as my subject elective where I learn the basics of financial accounting, including how to record and process business transactions, prepare financial statements, and understand accounting information for decision-making. Therefore, I have some basic knowledge of accounting from Secondary School & design knowledge from my course.

While studying under Interior Architecture & Design, I learnt how to use sofeware such as SketchUp, AutoCad, 3DsMAX, Photoshop, Illustrator and Revit. From the modules I have learnt, I learnt how to do Space Planning, Design for Customer Experience which is an comprehensive strategy for retail and hospitality spaces. It focuses on the creation of omni-channel systems that blend physical and online platforms to engage customers by creating meaningful atmospheres, as well as Architectural Drawing. I have done projects named Integrated Studio Project 1, 2 and 3, where it prepares us for the actual interior architectural projects done by professionals.

Other than studying design related modules, we have modules under TP Fundamentals. One of it is Innovation & Entrepreneurship, which allow us to build up enterprising skills in areas like creative problem solving, capitalisation of opportunities, perseverance and overcoming fears & doubts in everyday situations. One of the innova project that we done as a group is to address the real world problem of keeping our coffee shop/canteen/hawker centre table clean, after use from the public.
